As the political season heats up, I once again advise each of my clients, readers, friends, and colleagues to please keep your opinions to yourself when posting on the Internet. The nation is deeply divided on almost every topic, and taking sides will alienate a significant number of your potential customers. Remember that what you post on Facebook and Twitter can be shared and re-shared to people you don’t even know. People who might be offended. People who might mean you harm. People who can and will take your comments out of context. Before you tweet it, think about how it might affect your business. Sound advice at any time, but especially now when the hot topics are all over your newsfeeds.
