Delivering Happiness

I recently read a book called Delivering Happiness by Tony Hsieh.  He’s the CEO of Zappos, the mega-jillion dollar business that totally owns the online shoe selling industry.  I highly recommend it to any entrepreneur who is struggling to find the right niche and the right marketing strategies.  One of the great lessons I took away from the book is that you have to be willing to risk everything – even total failure – for something you really believe in.  You may not know this, but Zappos was a dead company – at least it was on life support – when Hsieh and his partners took some drastic measures – and some incredible personal risk – to give the company one last chance for success.  And that was the beginning of the huge success story that they are today.

Hsieh tells an interesting story that is packed with insights and wisdom that can only come from having been in business in the real world.  I learned a great deal from his story, and I suspect that you will too.  My guess is that each reader will take away some different lessons from Hsieh’s story, depending on the specific challenges they’re facing as they read it.  Anyway, I found it a great read and a good use of my time.  If you’ve read it (or will read it), I’d love to hear what lessons you take from it.

I’m always looking for a good business book to read.  Any recommendations?
