Popularity Contest?
When you set new goals for your organization, you’re going to have to build popular support for the changes you hope to implement. But it’s not a popularity contest. Your goals need to reflect the vision you have for your organization’s future, even if they aren’t fully appealing to everyone on your team. Like so many aspects of management and …
Thank you, Tory Johnson
Tory Johnson has been a role model, mentor, cheerleader and friend to me, and I just want to take this moment to say a public Thank You. As I pause this week to give thanks for all the blessings in my life, this relationship is definitely among them.
Sorry I’ve been absent
As you know if you’ve been following me lately, my husband works in Turkey for our Defense Department. He’s been home for the past month, on “vacation”, and we’ve enjoyed the time together enormously. We’ve also worked really har dover the past month to put the finishing touches on the Write-My-Book program, which we have just launched. So for the …
Ten-Fold Marketing Available Now!
Over the past two years, I’ve interviewed dozens of successful business leaders from all over the country, asking them about their secrets to success. I learned a lot about leadership, marketing, and the strategies that work for the long-term growth and health of a business. I’ve written a book about one of those strategies, and it’s finally available for sale. It’s a …
Who can say yes?
If you have employees, chances are good that the ones you pay the least are the ones with the most direct access to your customers. Fourth of July Memories
I wrote the following email to my friends back home, while I was living in Wiesbaden, Germany, just a few days before flying home for a visit. In celebration of our cherished independence, I’d like to share it with you now. I wrote this email on July 4, 2002, just a few months after the September 11 attacks. Read on… I guess …
Where you been, Marianne?
I’ve been conspicuously absent lately, but there’s a reason for that. I haven’t been blogging much, or networking, or even working the social networks. That’s because I’ve been up to my ears in a new project that is almost ready to unveil. So stay tuned. All will be revealed unto you in its time. The new book is on the …
I’m back, sort of
Don’s back in Turkey, and I’m back to work, but over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be working more on my own business than on my client’s projects. I have some projects of my own that are long overdue, and it’s time for me to take some of my own medicine. Time to review my Own websites and update …
Taking a few days off
Some of my readers know that my husband has been working overseas for the past two years, and that he’s currently home for a way-too-brief visit. He’s only home for a week, and then it’s back to Turkey, so I am taking the week off to enjoy some time with him. I’ll be back next week. Cheers!
Colleges suck.
In the mid-90s, I attended the University of Maryland and they had a policy that stated that in every course you took (except math and computer science), you had to write a 10-page paper and give a 5-minute speech. I graduated with a perfect 4.0, but I learned almost nothing of value from my courses except the ability to write …
