Today, I am inspired by the entrepreneur spirit, but not as it pertains to running businesses and creating jobs. Today, I am focused on the way entrepreneurs – real entrepreneurs – channel their spirit for the greater good. From Bill Gates, who runs a global charitable foundation, to Ben & Jerry, who have always donated a percentage of their revenues to charity, to the local photographer who volunteers as a Little League coach, to the local banker who sponsors a Pet Rescue drive. It seems to me that people who have the true entrepreneur spirit also have a spirit for caring and giving that I find enormously inspiring. They give up their most precious resource – their time – to help people (and animals) who will likely never affect their bottom line. And yet, volunteerism is a hallmark of almost every successful entrepreneur’s life. So today, I challenge you to follow their lead. Find a way to make a difference in your community or in the life of someone less fortunate. Even in this tough economy, we can all benefit from some time focused on the greater good. What are you doing to “give back”?
