5 Ways to Engage Your Facebook Fans: Part 5

Engaging you facebook fans Part 5If you haven’t seen parts 1 through 4 of this series, look through the archives (in the right-hand column) for December 2011 and January 2012.  In those posts, I talked about engaging your Facebook fans by giving them what they want, and I suggested that each of them wants what we all want:  Entertainment, Validation, Support, and Appreciation.  In this final segment, I finally get to the part where you actually market your business.  Notice that I’m sticking to my 80/20 rule of 80% being about THEM and 20% being about YOU.

But even though we are finally ready to talk about you and your business, I want you to do so in a way that benefits your fans (and your potential customers).  In this final 20%, I want you to give them something else they want and need:  Education. 

In these posts, you can educate your fans about your products and services.  Help them understand the value you bring to their world.  Teach them the advantages of buying from you, and answer their questions about your industry.  Remember that Social Networking isn’t about selling.  It’s about building relationships.  Give people what they want (Entertainment, Validation, Support,  Appreciation, and Education), and they’ll be much more likely to engage in a relationship with you.
